invisible arts

Mythical giants once roamed the land; flawed gods dispensing unfettered joy and happiness wherever they stopped for an hour or two. Women threw their affections with abandon at them. Men gave them magical potions to fuel their journeys and soaked in their effervescence.  The people in this land told stories with light images projected on a wall or in enchanted boxes distributed in every home. They were stories filled with horror, love, and humor, accompanied with the sound of music. These are the recollections of one soul who was once a little giant and still makes the music for those stories.  This is invisible arts. Richard Gibbs was the keyboardist in the band Oingo Boingo and performed as a session player, arranger, and producer for hundreds of artists such as Robert Palmer, Aretha Franklin, Korn, and Tom Waits. He was the musical director for the Muppets and the Tracey Ullman Show and has toured with Chaka Khan and Tom Jones. His 70+ film and television scoring credits cover the gamut from Dr. Dolittle and the Simpsons to Queen of the Damned and Battlestar Galactica.  Richard’s exclusive seaside studio, Woodshed Recording, has become a creative magnet for the elite artists of the day. Coldplay, Shawn Mendes, Chance the Rapper, U2, Lady Gaga, Barbra Streisand and many more have been drawn there to realize their sonic visions.
