Record Store Day 2022 is This Weekend!

This Saturday, April 23rd is the perfect day to do two things. One, celebrate Record Store Day, and two, support local!

Here’s a list of some of Chicago’s favorite record stores.

Bric-A-Brack

To walk into Logan Square’s Brick-A-Brack records is to be transported via time machine directly into the 1980s. A killer spot for scratching your nostalgic itches, expanding your action figure or VHS collections, and supporting your local punks.

3156 W. Diversey Ave. Chicago, IL 60647

Bucket O’ Blood Books and Records

Your go-to spot for all things heavy and horror. The Bucket’s vast assortment of punk, rock, and metal spills over into books, blu-rays, and an assortment of horror-adjacent novelties.

3182 N Elston Ave, Chicago IL 60618

Dusty Groove

From online-only enterprise, to running out of a tiny south-side apartment, to an official brick-and-mortar spot in 1997, Dusty Groove is an essential stop for vinyl heads. Take it from local legend Andrew Bird, “Dusty Groove on Ashland Avenue is a great curated shop of choice soul, funk, afro-pop, and jazz.”

1120 N. Ashland Ave. Chicago, IL 60622

Gramaphone Records

Your local DJ’s favorite one-stop-shop for deep-cuts, rare 12”s, and all the house, electronic, and dub the dancefloor could ask for.

2843 N. Clark Street Chicago, IL 60657

Interstellar Space

Ravenswood’s Interstellar Space is home to all sorts of eccentricities and oddities, priding themselves on their original, vintage and rare pressing selection.

2022 West Montrose Ave. Chicago, IL, 60618

Laurie’s Planet of Sound

A truly vintage vinyl experience in the heart of Lincoln Square so easy to make a day out of a trip inside.

4639 N. Lincoln Ave. Chicago, IL 60625

Reckless Records

A Chicago staple since 1989, their Lakeview, Wicker Park, and Loop locations offer a massive variety of releases for every type of collector, plus regular in-store programming.

1379 N. Milwaukee Ave. Chicago, IL 60622

Record Breakers

Originally staked on top of Reggies Rock Club, Record Breakers expanded to a second location in Avondale a few years back, and continue to offer their top tier digs from the punk world and beyond.

2935 N Milwaukee Ave, Chicago, IL 60618

Shuga

The project of DJ Shuga Rose, the Wicker Park-based store-turned-record label is always a trusted resource for “highly recommended” LPs, CDs, and cassettes.
